Laugh for Your Health with Sir-Laugh-a-lot!: "Laugh for the Health of It" returns to Amherst at the Community House at Pioneer Valley Co-Housing! Members of the Co-Housing community will also be joining us at this event! Sir-Laugh-a-lot (aka Mark Sherry) will be your laughter guide to an evening of fun and laughter. Meet new friends in a fun non-threatening atmosphere. Just bring with you some child-like playfulness and an openness to laugh and connect with other people! Laughter has many proven physical benefits: It boosts the immune system's production of disease-fighting T-cells, releases endorphins that serve as natural pain killers and make us feel good, helps reduce stress, anxiety & blood pressure by lowering the level of the stress hormone cortisol, provides aerobic exercise & promotes muscle tone, increases blood flow thereby bringing more oxygen to body cells. Our evening will be based on activities used in Laughter Yoga, a branch of Yoga developed in India by Dr Madan Kataria. There are now over 6,000 Laughter Yoga clubs all around the world. If you never done any yoga before don't worry--NO physical yoga postures or poses will be used. Laughter Yoga�? is not recommended for people suffering from uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, epilepsy, any kind of hernia , severe backache and major psychiatric disorders. Botanical Gardens At Smith College: Join us Saturday February 13th for a meet up at the Botanical Gardens of Smith College. We will be meeting at 10:45 am on route 9 near the College Lane gate to Smith College. From route 9 to the gardens is a short walk onto the campus. Once inside you can hang your coat near the service counter, put a couple of dollars in the donation box and venture forth. Yes donations are well, highly recommended. And the minimum is one dollar. We should warn you that isles in the green houses are narrow, so if you can leave your gear bag in your vehicle we highly recommend it. Also choose a lens that can focus quick-fans inside blow hard enough to move some of the plants. In closing we look forward to seeing you there.
